How do you get over with your Art block? Strategies to get your prime time back.

As an artist, everyone has gone through this phase most often or at some point in his or her career. When it comes, it is the most frustrating thing that can happen to a creativity lover. The art block can happen to everyone who uses their thoughts for creativity. This Art block is not a word; it means that there will be a shortage of thoughts or blockage of thoughts, which is used for building creativity, and it happens mainly to the artist, so the name is given as art block. Overcoming this block is time-consuming needs a lot of patience and courage to step out of your comfort zone. I would also like to share some tactics I use whenever I have an art block.

  • Switching your worktable or working environment It’s the most effective from my experience. We can say that it's an ice-breaking point. When you give a break to your thoughts by not forcing the mind to have an idea, instead, you are giving the mind a new task to rearrange the workstation or the working environment. So, a new place, a new look, offers a fresh start to your thoughts.

  • Interact with nature Nature is the source of creativity. We can say it is the mother of creativity or thoughts.  When you take a break from the drawing process and take a walk, get some fresh air, or go for a swim or trek, you can return to your art thoughts. By viewing nature, you will get some artistic ideas for new projects.

  • Aiming small and achieving step by step When you have an art block, you pressure yourself to get back on your feet. But doing this will not make things better. It will make things worse; putting more pressure makes your mind work a lot, your thoughts wander here and there, and there will not be any focus. Sometimes, you should stop doing art, give it a break, and start small again from the basics to get your lost confidence. Starting small, like drawing simple figure shapes, can also help you regain your grip.

  • Giving the introductory lesson a brush-up It’s a simple thing you can do without investing much time; brushing out the basics of your art knowledge can help you regain your confidence and identify the mistakes you have made throughout your career. You can practice daily, not every day. For example, set a time for the practice, like 30 minutes a day.

  • Search for inspiration Always admire the works of another artist; even if they are small or big, it doesn't matter. I prefer to visit a museum or art gallery which is near to your house or in town to get inspiration and also to get to know more about other artists, their motivations, their approach to doing art it is always the best way. If you don’t wish to go out, get an account on Pinterest and search for inspirations that fit your tastes. I would prefer you to try new art methods and drawing styles.

  • Try a switch from your style Trying something new is always a better way to escape your art block. Trying new mediums, for example, if you do only pencil art, I suggest you try watercolour or blend your style with another style, like combining the doodle with portraits of watercolour is an excellent way to generate new custom styles according to your taste.

  • Look back at your works It would be best if you always had an eye on the path you have crossed and the emotions you have experienced; the better way is to take your old art journals and artworks. Remembering the good old days will help you calm your mind.

  • Don’t be a perfectionist Trying to be more perfectionist will give you more pressure on your mind, and you will get tired. It will try to get rid of the drawing. Giving away the hardest thing to make you safe is just a basic human instinct. So don’t be afraid to make mistakes.

These are the techniques that I have been using for a long time to get out of my art block. Please comment on your thoughts on this idea, or if you have more ideas, share them in the comments.
